The business for this year’s 83rd Annual Members’ Meeting will be conducted online, by mail, and during a live Facebook broadcast. The annual meeting mailer contains:
The 2021 meeting minutes and annual report.
The 2022 ballot, candidate bios, and instructions on voting online or by mail. (QR codes are unique to each member)
A prepaid postage envelope. (Please do not mail ballot to SCI REMC.)

The online election will open on August 26; a unique link to each member will be emailed to all members with a valid email address on file on that day.
Online voting is available until 11:59 pm, September 20, 2022, to be eligible for the cash drawing.
Mail-in ballots must be received by September 20, 2022, to be eligible for the cash drawing.
The first 500 members who vote online and the first 500 returned mail-in ballots will receive a $20 bill credit. All members that vote by the deadline will be entered for a chance to win one of 10 $500 and 15 $100 cash prizes.
Only one vote per member will be counted. Please do not mail your ballot if you vote online.

DISTRICT 2: Jerry Pheifer (Incumbent)
Jerry Pheifer of Monrovia is the incumbent director for District 2 and has been an SCI REMC member for 50 years and on the board of directors for 38 years. Pheifer and his wife have eight children and 23 grandchildren.
Pheifer currently serves on the Hoosier Energy Board of Directors and as the Secretary / Treasurer for South Central Indiana REMC’s Board of Directors. He attended Monrovia High School and continued his education at Indiana State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. For 25 years, Pheifer was the athletic director at Monrovia High School and has operated Pheifer’s Saw Shop for over 40 years.
“What I like is helping members with any problem they might have with the co-op. Although, the problems have been few and far between. Most of all, I want the employees, both inside and out, to have the best environment possible. I want every employee to go home to their families safely each and every day. Thanks.”
DISTRICT 6: Larry Alden (Incumbent)
Larry Alden of Bowling Green is the incumbent director for District 6 and has been an SCI REMC member for over 50 years and on the board of directors since 2021. Alden attended Indiana University and has worked as a Tractor-Trainer Operator since 1970; he has experience in construction, farming, auto and car repair, and sales. He also had extensive training required as a Director from NRECA and IEC.
“I’m seeking reelection as a director to improve the reliability of our electric service to our members, focus on the affordability of the electricity our members use, and put safety first for all SCI REMC employees and everyone. Keep rates low, keep reliability high, keep everyone safe.”
DISTRICT 6: Kenneth Sebastian
Kenneth Sebastian of Spencer is a District 6 candidate and has been an SCI REMC member for 32 years. He and his wife Judy of 28 years have two daughters, Caroline and Mary. Kenneth graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering. He is a full-time grain and beef farmer; he also volunteers as a firefighter for Patricksburg Community Fire Department. He serves as Director of Western Indiana Credit Union and member of the Lafayette Township Advisory Board in Owen County. Kenneth has served as a board member of Owen County Farm Bureau Inc., a supervisor of Owen County Soil and Water Conservation District Board and board member of Patricksburg Lutheran Church.
“I would like to serve as an SCI REMC director representing District 6. I believe I am well equipped to fill this position due to my many years of experience on numerous boards in the community. I enjoy serving my community and look forward to the new challenges that this opportunity would provide.”
DISTRICT 7: Bruce Hamlin (Incumbent)
Bruce Hamlin of Spencer is the incumbent director for District 7 and has been an SCI REMC member for over 40 years. Hamlin and his wife have two married sons and six grandchildren. Bruce currently serves as President of the South Central Indiana REMC’s Board and several local boards that support rural communities. He has a BS & MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking. Hamlin has extensive financial experience; before retiring, he was Sr. VP-Lending of Owen County State Bank, an Indiana Wesleyan University faculty member, and served on various Indiana Banker Association committees. Hamlin has a passion for serving rural communities and is involved in committees throughout the community, including the IU School of Medicine Rural Medicine Committee and Owen Chamber of Commerce, and Owen County Economic Development.
“I seek to serve members and to continue improving costs, services, and continue expansion of high-speed internet.”
